The Outlander Tour

From Inverness & Invergordon

Visit the final resting place of the real “Old Fox” Lord Lovat at the Wardlaw Mausoleum, a site steeped in Fraser family history.

Nearby, explore the hauntingly beautiful Beauly Priory, where Claire often walked in the Outlander novels.

No tour is complete without standing on the banks of Loch Ness, the atmospheric home of the mythical water horse mentioned by Claire.

We’ll stop at the iconic Urquhart Castle, offering dramatic views of the water and centuries of Highland conflict.

As we enter Inverness, we pass Tomnahurich Hill, the legendary “Fairy Hill” that features prominently in local folklore and Gabaldon’s writing.

We also visit the historic King Stables area, where the Jacobite army gathered their horses before the final battle.

Wander through the “Highland Capital” to see Abertarff House, the oldest secular building in the city, and the towering Inverness Castle.

You’ll also have time to browse the famous Leakey’s Bookshop, which perfectly captures the old-world atmosphere of the series.

Explore the spiritual side of Inverness at the Old High Church, where Jacobite prisoners were held and executed after Culloden.

We also pass the beautiful St. Mary’s and St. Stephen’s, churches that stand as silent witnesses to the city’s turbulent 18th-century history.

Walk the somber moor of Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite dream ended and the Fraser headstone stands today.

Just a short drive away are the ancient standing stones of Clava Cairns, the physical inspiration for the magical portal of Craigh na Dun.
